Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is made by Rubbish Clearance Harrow in respect of our operations and supply chains. We are committed to conducting our business ethically, transparently, and in full compliance with all applicable laws relating to modern slavery, human trafficking, forced or compulsory labour, and child labour.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Rubbish Clearance Harrow provides waste removal and related services to residential, commercial, and public sector customers. Our activities include on-site clearance, collection, sorting, and responsible disposal or recycling of waste. Our supply chains include providers of vehicles, fuel, personal protective equipment, tools, waste transfer and recycling facilities, as well as various professional and support services.
We recognise that the waste and recycling sector can face particular risks relating to the use of temporary labour, subcontractors, and outsourced services. We therefore take active steps to ensure that our suppliers and partners uphold equivalent standards and share our commitment to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking.
Zero-Tolerance Approach
Rubbish Clearance Harrow operates a clear zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and exploitation. This policy applies to our own operations, our employees, agency workers, contractors, and every organisation within our supply chain. We will not knowingly enter into or maintain a relationship with any party involved in modern slavery or related practices.
Any suspicion or evidence of modern slavery connected to our business will be treated with the utmost seriousness. We will act promptly to investigate concerns, take corrective action, and, where appropriate, notify the relevant authorities. Breaches of our policy by employees may result in disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal. For suppliers and contractors, breaches may lead to contract termination and removal from our approved supplier list.
Supplier Due Diligence and Audits
We are committed to working only with suppliers and subcontractors who share our values and meet our standards. As part of our supplier due diligence process, we assess the risk of modern slavery within our supply chains and take reasonable steps to verify compliance. This may include reviewing company policies, obtaining written confirmations of adherence to anti-slavery laws, and assessing labour practices where relevant.
Rubbish Clearance Harrow reserves the right to conduct supplier audits or request evidence demonstrating compliance with modern slavery and human trafficking legislation. Where risk is identified, we may carry out further checks, request corrective action plans, or decline to engage or continue with the supplier. We expect suppliers to cascade similar standards through their own supply chains and to monitor their own contractors and labour providers.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
We encourage an open culture where concerns can be raised without fear of retaliation. Employees, agency workers, contractors, suppliers, and any other stakeholders are encouraged to report any suspicion of modern slavery or unethical labour practices connected with our operations or supply chains.
Concerns can be raised directly with a line manager, a senior manager, or a designated member of the management team responsible for compliance and ethical standards. Reports may be made verbally or in writing. All reports will be treated sensitively and, where possible, confidentially. We will investigate reported concerns promptly and take appropriate action based on the findings.
Rubbish Clearance Harrow will not tolerate victimisation or retaliation against anyone who raises a concern in good faith, even if it is not substantiated following investigation.
Training and Awareness
We aim to promote awareness of modern slavery risks among our staff, particularly those involved in procurement, recruitment, contract management, and site operations. Training and guidance are provided so that employees can recognise potential indicators of exploitation and understand how to respond and report concerns.
Management is responsible for reinforcing our zero-tolerance approach and ensuring that our expectations are clearly communicated to all staff, agents, and key suppliers.
Monitoring, Governance and Annual Review
Rubbish Clearance Harrow is committed to continuous improvement in the identification and mitigation of modern slavery risks. We periodically review our policies, procedures, and contractual arrangements to ensure they remain effective and proportionate to the risks within our sector and supply chains.
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement will be reviewed at least annually by senior management. The review will consider changes in legislation, operational developments, findings from any audits or investigations, and feedback from stakeholders. Updates will be made where necessary to strengthen our approach and to reflect our ongoing commitment to preventing modern slavery in all aspects of our business.
This statement has been approved by the management of Rubbish Clearance Harrow, who take overall responsibility for its implementation and oversight.
